Tony had another surgery yesterday for mouth cancer. That tobacco is dangerous stuff. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Beerfest makes a return. The classic beach towel giveaway is still there. Still doing dog days.

Looks a bit empty on the later months. I suppose they will add some more later.

"And even the San Diego Padres— playing in the 26th largest market in baseball — are, pending MLB approval, poised to sign a new deal with Fox Sports that will guarantee them $75 million a year for the next 20 years. The deal was confirmed by two industry executives familiar with the contract but not authorized to speak publicly about its details."

With over $100 mil in TV and revenue sharing...what should the payroll be and should any of that money be used to pay off the loans? Let the jousting begin.

We got the whole slew of new Padres logos a few months ago but there was one that was conspicuously absent... until now. They've quietly revealed the new Petco Park logo (gone is the PETCO Park home plate logo). Wonder if this means people will stop capitalizing the name of our ballpark?

On being traded: "It kind of was like my first day of pro ball all over again. I had to learn everyone’s names, adjust to the new surroundings, and get settled in. I couldn’t have been more happy with everything that happened though."

Garry is the new manager of the Yuma Panthers (the recently renamed Scorpions) of the independent North American League. This means he'll be returning to his old spring stomping grounds at Desert Sun Stadium and the Kroc Sports Complex out in Yuma. He replaces outgoing manager and former steroid filled MLB slugger Jose Canseco.

Basically, it's a minor league deal for a veteran pitcher. Nothing wrong with that.
