Thunder Across Time Pt.1 - YouTube Storm Baseball has released 5 or their 6 stop motion promotions starring their mascot Thunder. The story is hard to follow, but it all starts when Thunder gets a new dog house then suddenly is whipped back in time.
North County Times: Seems Huey Lewis isn't up on Padres' news Speaking of going Back in Time... Bud Black was having lunch with the local media when he was approached by moderate rock legend Huey Lewis. Lewis remembered Black from his days pitching for the Giants but wasn't aware that he is now managing the Padres. I can totally imagine Black saying the following:
"I'm a big Huey Lewis guy,'' Black later gushed. "If I'm driving in the car and a Huey Lewis song comes on the radio, I don't change it and I'm turning it way up.''
Padres implementing dynamic ticket pricing | padres.com: News I'm a fan of setting pricing by supply and demand. I think I'll probably save money by getting cheaper seats during the less popular mid week games. I don't go out of my way to see pitching match-ups. I usually don't even know who's pitching until the 3rd inning once I get situated.
"We wanted to provide discounted seats across the ballpark to fans that purchase in advance," said president and COO Tom Garfinkel. "Over time, as the game gets closer, ticket prices will normalize, but generally, fans who buy early will save money. "As always, our season-ticket holders will enjoy the deepest discounts available. Season tickets remain the ultimate buy-early-and-save opportunity for our fans."
This is a rad video of some thrill seekers doing a rehearsal sky dive into Petco Park armed with 2 GoPro cameras. Just turn down the music to fully appreciate the video.

Sucks that the Padres joined this most lame of trends straight out of New York, Boston, LA and the Bay Area. They claim it lowers ticket prices on less desirable game days, but that ends up being total BS.
Just makes going to any decent game more expensive. I’m a mini STH and they’re telling me it shouldn’t affect me at all.
The only good is that it’ll drive the prices up for the Doyer fans that come down to Petco. Less money for Doyer fans and more money for the Padres makes me happy.
I’m going to be in SD for the series against SF in early June, and I suspect that those will be three gouge games. Still, I’m rapt that I’ll be able to see those gnats hopefully get squashed by some enterprising giant-slayers.
A cursory glance at the net indicates that single game-tickets don’t go on sale till Saturday your time, and the options on stub-hub are somewhat underwhelming at the moment, at least price-wise. Any informed opinions on when it might be best to buy tickets (I also wish they sold series tickets)? The games are Tue June 5 @ 7:05pm, Wed June 6 @ 3:30pm, and Thur 7 @ 12:35pm (is this time for the huge east-coast audience which will be tuning in for the game?)
even though it’s against the giants, those are weekday games. Two of them are day games even. Also it sounds like you are buying well in advance.
stubhub isn’t really useful this far in advance imo. And even if they did have a decent supply, I’ve never found a deal on there that was all that great.
I’d just buy your tickets when they go on sale Saturday morning San Diego time.
It’s typical for the last game of the series to be a day game. It allows the teams some travel time. A bit weird that they did two day games in a row though.
if the team sucks, increase spending until the team no longer sucks
Btw, I heard last night (on the radio) that the Padres will be getting $70 mil a year from the new TV contract, which is well over $50 mil a year more than the Cox deal.
Wrong hat...
…still awesome.

Yea
Wasn’t too happy when I heard that.

I don't think you have much to worry about

Agreed on Stubhub. By the time they tack on all the fees, any savings have evaporated.
Darklighter - February 7, 2012
is it me....
or does Stubhub really only have a use in games that are mostly if not completely sold out or if you are really dying for a super premium ticket?
Nater Tater - February 7, 2012
not just you
kevintheoman - February 8, 2012
Yea, you'll be fine
Just buy on Saturday. Part of the deal is that they want you to buy early.

Here is an idea...how about Dynamic Payroll
if the team sucks, increase spending until the team no longer sucks

Hormel - February 7, 2012
Those numbers are way off
Ain’t no way we’re getting $70 million a year. And if we were, that would be more like $64 million more than the Cox deal.
Dex - February 9, 2012
$70M a year?
I have heard 20 – 25, but never 70

If this is true...
Then nobody can ever criticize this front office group. No way that our TV deal is worth $70M unless they’ve drastically realigned blackout areas.

I wonder why?

do you like the padres?
their early stuff was a bit too “new wave” for me, but i think with the 2012 season they came into their own. commercially and artistically.
