PADRES: Owings to sign minor league contract Some people are saying it's a Major League Deal and some are saying it's a Minor League deal. The only thing we do know is that the trade is likely to happen since Owings is another ex-Arizona player. Kind of surprised he went 8-0 last year, that means he's still good right?
11,000 Future Friars " Padre Knows Best This community outreach program was genius and that's high praise that I usually reserve for my own ideas. Take a look at the crew unpacking 11,000 Little League Padres jerseys. Then think about what it would be like to make a nest out of all those jerseys and take a nap like a baby bird.
Here's some video of Anthony Bass pitching on what looks like a tennis court using an "MVP Flatground Mound". I've never seen one of those before, but I should tell Jon. He was wanting to build a mound in his backyard. He should get one of these instead.

"I should tell Jon"
/hits post and goes about the rest of day not telling Jon
speaks volumes about Owings. Not so much how good he is, but just how much of good luck charm the guy is. I mean, check out this game he won last year. The dude cannot lose!
Wouldn’t pitching off that mound completely screw with your timing and mechanics?
Since its flat, don’t you either have to abbrivate your stride to the catcher or kind of stick your stride leg into the concrete. If I were a pitching coach I would be suspicious of something like this.
its apparently a ML deal, but he has minor league options remaining and the contract he signed specifies he will be paid a minor league salary if he’s optioned down. he doesn’t have an opt-out either, so good signing for the pads. its effectively a minor-league deal but it pretty much guarantees him a spot on the opening day roster.

Boston wants cheaper players?
Little late for that, isn’t it?

I think you are misinterpreting that
cheap as in no class, natty light, fried chicken, Taco Bell commericial even though you are mexican/american from Chula Vista…..
not cheap as in makes less money.

Volliers and catchers?

i don't get the logic behind trading bartlett
unless you get a big overpay. the moment you trade him you make everth cabrera your major league SS, with no ml-ready backup plan.

Not bad for an "insurance policy"

I don't think they pitch off a mound during off season
this looks like a good way to standardize their footing
plus Balsley is a pretty darn good pitching coach
