Where are they now? Steve Finley
Steve Finley is still looking for work in the Major Leagues but in the meantime he has opened an Italian restaruant in Del Mar.
"It's been really, really great," Finley said. "People have been raving about the food and the décor."
When Finley was asked about the cuisine and his famous spaghetti sauce his lips began to tremble and he fought back tears:
"I just miss being on the field," Finley said. "I still have that drive and desire to be out there. If I never put on a uniform again, I have my championship and I played for 19 years. The one thing I would like to do is go out on my own terms."
Some familiar faces still looking for work
"I have a hard time putting that 'retired' in front of my name because I still feel good," Finley said. "I still feel like I have a lot left in my tank."
Finley helps out his son Austin's high school team while he waits for his chance to return to the game. Finley says he would like to get into broadcasting if the restaurant and baseball thing don't work out.
