Richard Andersen is going to be teaching this year's SDSU Sports MBA class about operations management. In case you're joining us late, yours truly is a graduate of the '07 Sports MBA class at SDSU. That's right, book smarts.
So says Scott Minto, Director of the Sports MBA program:
“SDSU is one of the few sports business MBA programs that have the luxury of having a real sports program executive – a guy that’s in the trenches everyday – teach students firsthand about sports business operations and what goes on behind the scenes..."
I'm looking forward to Luke Yoder's class on "How to Get a Groundscrew Cleaning the Field Before the Game's Even Over 101". That joke probably could've been executed better.

I think I'd rather go to BU
and listen to Larry Lucchino give the commencement speech. Sandy should spend his spare time fixing the team. Then again, maybe more time away from the team is better.

i dont get it
weren’t you living back east for the last few years dex? Was this a correspondence class or something?
I graduated from National University’s class on owning an NFL franchise. A couple more credits and I can own an NBA team. Hard works pays off. Let that be a lesson to all the young ones out there.

SMBA
I think he spoke at the SMBA open house a few weeks back. I’ve been talking with Scott and I’m really, really seriously considering the SMBA program. Dex, what was your experience like? Did you feel like it did what you wanted it to do for you?

I really enjoyed the class
Scott’s working extra hard to really get more people like Richard Andersen teaching courses. The ultimate goal is for it to not only get students the MBA, but also start getting more up to date strategies and tactics that sports business people use.
That being said… The job market is very very tough for sports and you really will need to devote a good amount of time outside of class to building relevant experience. The program will be putting a lot of opportunities in front of you and you have to take advantage of them. It’s not even enough to just volunteer for the different projects, but to also file away the relationships made and really capitalize on them.
