So if it says over 100, that's not really going to cut it. There will be plenty of open threads for the rest of you, that are open to everyone. We're just trying to give the new people a forum to say something.

They don't have rockets strong enough
to beat both the gravity of the Earth and propelling his mass into orbit while overcoming the suck that is the 2008 Padres. I think best bet is to try and slingshot him around wherever the Padres are holding their black hole event. The suck-force generated is multiple times the speed of light.
It literally is rocket science.

Hello
I’m kind of new, moved from texas in Feb. The Chris Young-AGON trade still burns…I have mostly followed the Rangers for some time.
I enjoyed my first visit Petco. I was yelling at what’s his name, the kid that was dropped from left field during a recent Dodgers game, the Aussie.
If that Red Ruff gets in my view, I would ruff him up as well…

I posted a few times last year, but have been mostly lurking and spending my time praying to the Baseball Gods that Maddux stays in a Pads uniform.
Thanks for helping keep me informed as to what’s going on with the team. Sometimes it’s really hard to get good Padres dirt when you don’t live in SD.

How youse doin, been reading GLB since Maddux came to SD. more a fan of the game than any team in particular but as he is my favourite player i tend to root for whoever he is pitchin for . Love the laid back vibes on here – pity about the team.
I live in Scotland so most games are in the middle of the night so i just check the game threads after the event

Been reading the blog for while now. Really like the radio interviews posted here. This season is a wash and most of the blame should be put onto the front office. Just look at the lineup of scrubs that was assembled for this year. Even the pitching was mashed together especially with the middle relief core.

First time commentor. Been a Padres fan since 1984. Tony Gwynn is my favorite player of all time. This is a rough season, but I guess you take the good with the bad. Being from the OC, I get tons of Dodger coverage, but I absolutely detest them, along with the Giants. Lets turn this thing around…

I made my first post last week and have been following this blog for a couple weeks now. Very cool. A good mix of sarcasm, humor and a few bits of info I didn’t know. I live in Idaho but have followed the friars religiously for many years. This seems to be the best way to get fairly unbiased info and opinion. Here’s hoping we make lots of smart moves before the trade deadline…..

First Time Long Time
Well, not exactly. I suppose technically I have 2 comments but I check GLB everyday. I have been a fan since the first move to San Diego back when I was about 6 in 1986 (I’m on my second move now to SD at the age of 27). Regardless of where I’ve lived I have waived the Padres flag proudly (well, proudly might be an overstatement, tough to be proud of some of those early 90’s teams but you get the point).
Either way, this team baffles me in ways I can hardly explain. I look at this team on paper and think that they are better then last year (Wolf over Hensley, Iguchi over MGiles, Gerut and Cameron are basically a push, Headley over Sledge). I wish someone would start to run away with this division just so the Padres could sell (looking at you Greene) and start over next year. Ugh…

A couple of months ago
someone provided a link of a Padres Fan site that looked like a stalker website.
For all I know, there could have been underage girls on it.
The link I provided was certainly sick, but thats what I was trying to point out.

Howdy. I found Gaslampball after I stopped visiting the AOL message boards a few years back. It’s been a great find! The cast of characters here cracks me up AND informs me as well. Kudos to the masterminds behind the Gaslamp, and all who give me a laugh after a long day.

I just want to say, or pray, dear god, please ship Kevin Towers to Seattle. I can’t handle any more sludge. I will never forgive him for trying to open the 2006 season with Mirabelli and Vinny Castilla.
That was the final straw.
He is horrible! He builds good bullpens. whoopte fricking do!

Mirabelli was backup for a guy named Mike Piazza. When Mirabelli sucked and Boston cried because they needed him to catch Wakefield, Towers fleeced Epstein for a kid by the name of Cla Meredith, who only went on to tie Orel Hershiser for 2nd-longest scoreless streak by a rookie since 1920.
Call him horrible if you want, but you don’t get to appreciate things like the 2006 NL West Division championship without him making those moves.

I am going to disagree with your recollection of events that spring. Mirabelli was to be our opening day starter. Mike Piazza couldn’t find a job and Kevin Towers simply answered a phone call from Mikes agent. Piazza fell into his lap.
I am not one of those guys that is always bashing the front office. far from it. I love Alderson and Depo and heck even John Moores.
I am just not a fan of KT. I have had enough of his sludge over the years. thats all.
Someone should compile a list of KT’s “prospects”
