The New York Times sampled food at MLB ballparks and while San Diego doesn't get featured in the main story, we can still have a laugh at the Dodgers.
The trademark Dodger Dogs were contemptibly bad (salty, greasy and tepid), and a large cup of Miller Lite was overpriced at $12.25.
On the interactive map, they suggest trying the Ruby's fries (no mention of Gordon Biersch) and avoiding the Friar Frank, which is probably a good idea.
We had just gone over this , so it's interesting to see the mentions, but I do have to say that the Rubio's Fish Taco, Gordon Biersch Fries, everything at Randy Jones' BBQ and Oggi's Pizza must have been passed over, which is a disappointment.
To whet your appetite:
Some winners:
1. The pork and provolone sandwich with broccoli rabe at Citizen Bank Park, Philadelphia.
2. The "Ichiroll" -- a spicy tuna rolled named after Mariners right fielder Ichiro Suzuki -- at Seattle's Safeco Park.
3. The grilled brautwurst at Miller Park, MilwaukeeSome losers:
1. The "limp, mealy and acrid" Gilroy fries at AT&T Park, San Francisco
2. The egg rolls at Yankee Stadium
3. The "squishy, soggy" sushi at Chase Field, Phoenix
I got those from a publicist just in case you see the exact same list elsewhere.

Ugh!
How can you think of food at this hour?

NO MORE Garlic Fries, at any public event!
There is nothing worse than having the person sitting next to you eating garlic fries. I went to Safeco Field last month and the whole place reeked like garlic.
I’m all for BASIC BALLPARK FOOD. Just the standard fare. If I want organic vegan sushi with a side of lemon infused broccoli rab, I won’t be going to the ballpark.

i second that!
garlic is terrible and needs to be banned!!!

lol
Who had the deathwish to try the sushi in Phoenix?
One of my favorite things at PETCO is the hand-carved bistro sandwiches up in the Hall of Fame Bar n Grille. Or the Anthony’s fish n chips.

Fish n Chips
Good Value too…for a ballpark. My Favorite.

The Vinegar is free
and Jon poisons his fish and chips with it. Sometimes I’ll try and steal a fry and I almost choke, it’s disgusting.

It's
A defense mechanism.

Ruby's better than Gordon Biersch
Like that they added Ruby’s fries and burgers this year. I don’t mind the Friar Frank. It actually improved, with a larger more flavorful dog. RJ dogs are sometimes overcooked.

Citizens Bank
Easily the best food at any ballpark. Hoagies, Cheese Steaks, BBQ. All really good stuff.
As far as Padres stuff I usually eat at the Gaslamp before the game, but I like the Anthony’s fish and chips and the clam chowder. Oggi’s pizza was probably some of the better pizza I’ve had at a ballpark. It was also much more substantial pizza than most others (which I think is somewhat important considering the price you are paying). Not a big fan of the Randy Jones stuff or Rubios (not a fan of avocado or fish tacos), but I think that’s really a personal food preference than a quality observation. I seem to recall good eating at the PCL grill, but I can’t remember what I had. Also, Petco’s generic burgers suck.

burgers
It’s a shame that they don’t have Rally’s at Petco like they did at the Q. Part of me wonders if they can’t work out a deal to get a Jack in the Box or a In-N-Out in there.
