He has been here only for a short time and has already overseen some very good progress in the minor leagues. I think we need to wait for him to be here at least 5 years to really see if the his efforts are worthwhile.
Look at the Twins, they are able to produce almost an entire roster based off of their minor leagues because of their ability to produce from their farm system. We have the potential to do that and spend wisely with free agency. If we don’t do that, then we will be relegated to more seasons like this one and the early 2000s seasons. Alderson is for these things and I would have to think that anyone who doesn’t think that is the best future for this franchise is fooling themselves.
Just opened a Dominican training facility this year after 28 other teams figured this out a while ago. Just forged a relationship with a Japanese team. Our farm system just needs a lot more work. The 2012 Padres will become a dynasty team.
What the heck does your question even mean? Trust him like he is telling the truth? Trust that he is actually trying to field a competitive team? This whole line of questioning is a joke.
The guy takes time out of his very busy day to communicate with the fans each week and instead you ask whether we “trust him”? How many other presidents in MLB do you think do this? What are you trying to do—stop him from communicating with us?!?
It just seems like this is bitterness tied to him recently doing an interview with Ducksnorts. Get over it!
Sandy is one of the best minds in the game. The Padres are very lucky to have him.
I’m recommending it because I want this comment “green” so no one misses it.
And RickMac does have a very good point here…if you notice, there are polls questioning the honesty of Sandy Alderson and Kevin Towers…yet I don’t see one titled “Do you trust Paul DePodesta?” Let’s see, KT and Sandy have never done an interview with Gaslamp Ball…but Depodesta has. Hmmmm….
Also, concerning Sandy, I think it’s funny that yesterday it was “a freaking joke that Alderson has to go on and defend himself” and today it’s “The guy takes time out of his very busy day to communicate with the fans each week”. Love it.
One more. “How many other presidents in MLB do you think do this?” I can tell you when I was at XTRA Sports 690, Larry Lucchino was on with us weekly to talk about the ballclub…and back then we were NOT the station broadcasting the games.
I would trust him
if he was stripped of his attitude.

Alderson is moving in the right direction
