It was a long, hard slog, but these Padres perservered and they're now out of the cellar. Oh the humility of being in last place in all of baseball. But the boys fought and clawed and now they're out of last place.
It wasn't easy. It took a win. Maybe it didn't take 6 wins in a row, but it did take that one win. We were so ridiculously far behind all of baseball that getting out of last place was, for all intents and purposes, impossible, but we're out of the cellar now and we can stave off those critics calling for the Padres to move to Oklahoma City. I just hope that we aren't too far along into the Fire Sale of 2008. I mean, I thought we were going to be in last place in all of baseball all season. There couldn't possibly be another team struggling as bad as us.
Now that the champions of the baseball wolrd are decided in mid-May, it's very nice to be out of last place to save face as we await the 2009 season.
