At first blush, this just looks like Brad Penny and Russell Martin getting their signs crossed and Umpire Kerwin Danley getting caught on the wrong end of it. However, on second blush, we learn that Kerwin Danley is actually an Aztec and played college ball with Tony Gwynn. Danley should be OK, but I guarantee you that Penny and Martin will not rest until they've beaned everybody in baseball that's had any sort of association with the San Diego Padres.
I'M READY FOR YOU, PENNY! I AIN'T AFRAID OF YOU!

That comment is highly recommended
after three recommends from other readers a comment turns green to highlight it.

That makes sense, thanks.

A lot of people have that same question
for Paris Hilton.
(I’ll show myself out.)

Wiggins is going straight back to jail!
...if he’s not in there already!
This is just the kind of inflammatory incentive he doesn’t need…

Vin Scully isn't even watching the game!
The guy keeps repeating “The ball was in the dirt and bounced up…” He wasn’t even watching, saw the umpire down, and just assumed Brad Penny would never hit someone in the face.

Not to mention
the fact that as soon as it happens, he busts out all these factoids about Danley’s history and personal life, and keeps on talking about them in the same monotone he calls the game in.

that was so funny
I love vin scully though. It’s not like he has a team of dudes in there, I’m pretty sure he gathers all those factoids himself. One man crew!

I'm sure he does.
One of my friends (huge sculley fan) met him, he was wondering what things he should ask of the thousands of questions he wanted to, without sounding silly, but when Vin found he was ex sdpd he started grilling my friend for all kinds of stories and factoids. I think that stuff just genuinely fascinates him.
