Let's all congratulate Adrian on winning the Gold Glove this year.I've seen those things in person and they look heavy. It's his first one and he becomes the 10th player in Padres history:
Gonzalez, the 10th Padre to win the award, joins the likes of Tony Gwynn, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield and Ken Caminiti. Gonzalez, who along with Philadelphia's Ryan Howard were the only National League players to appear in 162 games last season, tied with Houston's Lance Berkman and St. Louis' Albert Pujols for the best fielding percentage (.996) among NL first basemen.
I'm impressed. Granted, from the 30 or so games I managed to actually watch this season, he sure looked good, but I wasn't expecting recognition for the dude.

Fat Albert gets to carry the label “Gold Glover” around for an undeserved award that should have gone to Adrian that year. Two years late is better than not at all. Great job Agone.

If they had truly based it off his defense. But in reality, the main reason he got the award is because he hit 30 HRs in consecutive seasons. Not that he didn’t deserve it. Because he totally does.

As usual, Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols wasn’t given the proper respect by people who supposedly have the most knowledge of the game. San Diego’s Adrian Gonzalez won the Gold Glove at 1B, and while I am a fan of the way the guy plays, he’s not in Pujols’ class as a defender.

Spreading the wealth. He’ll probably win NL MVP, which will absolve everything else. And they know Pujols is a class act that won’t bitch. Had Mark Teixeira stayed in Atlanta, he’d probably have it locked, anyway. He was a vacuum at 1B, and turned a ton of potential doubles into 3U’s.
But sometimes it’s hard to spread the wealth – Brad Lidge is the DHL Delivery Man, NL Comeback Player, will likely get a Rolaids Relief NL award, a bunch of CY votes, and probably some MVP nods as well.

Because that photo of Miklasz might be the most Photoshopped photo on the Internets. The last time Bernie looked that good or that thin was never. Add about 200 pounds and some powdered sugar to his chin and then it would be more realistic.

I truly believe
that the reason he won this award was the pick he made on russell martin’s throw in the all-star game. That play was widely praised and probably put him on the map. Not to say he didn’t deserve it though he has got the best arm for any first basemen in the league
