The Cardinals have signed Matt Clement. I like the articles that go around about Clement, referring to him as a "veteran". For whatever reason, I still imagine the weird rookie, growing out a ridiculous beard and listening to Creed to try to impress guys like Ryan Klesko and Joey Hamilton.

dead on
no matter how many times i've seen him thrown, i can't think of clement as anything but a young, lanky, awkward kid. and he still kindof fits that mold. the goatee he had was ridiculous, and although he's always had a ton of talent he will always be inconsistent and injury-prone. he will always be the potential rather than the finished product.
and i think it's easy to keep track of who the good scouts are and who the bad scouts are inside the organization. i know if i were a scout, and a colleague of mine was gloating about scouting ruben rivera or sean burroughs years ago i'd be bringing up those names all the time to tease them. scouts get attached to the guys that they find, whether they're busts or stars. if that brenden frasier/albert brooks movie taught me anything, it taught me that.
