Tonight Bochy returns to the hallowed grounds of Petco Park for the first time since last season! His only prediction is PAIN! The mustachioed manager keeps down playing the Padres match-up but you know that he wants a bit of revenge. That's just the way he is. It's all about payback. I wouldn't be surprised if some one is put in the hospital tonight, that's how serious this is. Look for Klesko in the line up, he's gonna try and put as many Padres in the game as possible to try and confuse the crowd. Ignore those old Padres favorites (Roberts) and give those other bums (Klesko) an ear full.

speaking of pain
http://www.baseballmusings.com/archives/020009.phpDodgers are getting roughed up apparently. Fortunately Juan Pierre is okay. I want that guy in their lineup as much as possible.

Just in time for the Cox contract to expire, allowing the Padres to fully realize the regional sports network that they desperately need to create in conjunction with SDSU and USD sports. The new influx of money will allow the Padres to then sign a ridiculous set of aces with Peavy and Young the old veterans.Also... Welcome! Always nice to see a delurker.

Saturday night they were even referring to Alex on air a couple of times!! The Padres coverage on 1090 and Channel 4 is really really awesome IMHO. Certainly adds to the experience.Christina - April 9, 2007
Really?
Dex, I'm on the east coast, but that sounds interesting. It seems like it'd be heavily backed by the Pads and Chargers, though. Is there talk of it happening?Phony Gwynn - April 9, 2007
It's definitely the trend
The NFL contracts are too expensive and the money is in cable. The only thing keeping the Padres from doing already is the long term contract they signed with Cox back when things weren't so rosey in Padres Nation. My crystal ball predictions (edumacated guesses): By 2011, free of the contract the Padres will create a true RSN with the help of Cox Cable who won't do it till then just because the contract they currently have is so good. NFL will have so much control over their properties, that the Chargers won't end up anywhere near the RSN. Instead, the Padres will rely on the SDSU and USD basketball programs to man the channel during baseball offseason. The Aztecs football team will have moved from Qualcomm to an Aztecs dedicated stadium that seats about 45k after the Chargers get their stadium in Oceanside. That stadium will open in 2012 and between the Aztecs "Farewell to Qualcomm tour" and the new football stadium, there will be an extra influx of money. So you'll have two basketball programs, Aztec football and Padres baseball on the RSN, which will be more than enough to sustain a broadcast.
By 2015 the Angels will switch to San Diego's RSN creating a situation where the media regions are redefined and the Padres will actually be seen by all of Padres fans in and around San Diego county.
