Brian Giles will check your cup... Seriously

Brian Giles will play hard, but he will also play safe. If you're not wearing a cup in your jock, Giles wants to know. In Wednesday's game against the Giants, he slid hard into second to try to take out Ray Durham's chance at the double play.

While he was at it, he decided to see exactly what Durham's got going on down there.

I wonder if Gilly actually called for the cup check when he reached up there. I mean, technically, you should call the cup check.

After the play, Giles and Durhman blushed and shared an awkward moment before both coughing and engaging in a conversation about NASCAR and how not gay they both are.

Thanks to David for the screen capture!

Watching the SF coverage last night...
They kept showing the replay of Giles sliding hard into 2nd, and how he used to play football in high school.  They didn't seem to pick up on the fact that he tried to grab Durham's stuff along the way.
Sweeney vs Sweeney
The SF TV guys were cracking up on Sweeney pitching to Sweeney, and did the split screen where both jerseys read Sweeney at the same time.

After Sweeney grounded out, I was thinking how hilarious it would have been if he started heading into the Padres dugout out of habit.

Sweeney
When Barry came into the dugout after he scored on Opening Night, Sweeney was at the top step and I'm pretty sure he wanted to grab Barry's helmet for him, but Barry had already removed it.

Sweeny's schtick must not be commonplace yet in Frisco.
Did you note
The LF standing area was shut down? No access. No visible signs, because of that. Thanks to JJ? "Security issues?"
Security
Why does the Padres security give in all the time.  If we want to make this place more intense every now and then we should.  Makes San Diego fans look like a bunch of pu****s.
Seriously....
I've heard a bunch of stories from friends who went to the non-game on Tues. and last night and were told they could not wear their "Roids 25" T-shirts.  Turns out it was the security people's call, not the Pads.  Super lame.  Is it the new ballpark, you think?  Everything has to be clean and pretty?  Whatever.  Fenway's clean and pretty, so's Wrigley, and players - friends and foes alike - get what's deserved.  Sheesh.  Lame - O.

On a side note, anyone else a bit worried about Khalil in the 6 spot?  He looks very over anxious to me.  Maybe he just had one of those nights where everything he swings at is a ball and he takes the good ones down the middle, but...

Khalil
His swing looks better to me than they did last season and the results are there over two games, so I'm not so much worried.
Oh, one other thing...
I was kind of wondering if maybe Boch would have been better off letting Sledge face Kline instead of doing the Bellhorn thing.  I am not really a fan of using Bellhorn as a pinch hitter, as he's not a contact hitter, at all.  Sledge has OK splits against lefties and Kline was not looking sharp.  Overall, I think the SF bullpen is worse than last year, and will be the primary culprit for their lack of contention this year.  That and Barry playing 60 games @ five innings per game.
