The results are in and Gaslamp Ball was the fifth most humorous sports blog of 2005. I'm very proud of this result. It shows that we're recognized, but at the same time, we're not overhyped or too funny, so we can keep our indie cred.
It's kinda like, who would you rather be? Would you rather be Coke or Dr Pepper? Obviously, Dr Pepper.
Obviously.
The film that grossed the 5th most at the box office?
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
We're the Tim Burton, Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman of sports blogs.
Number one was Star Wars and even though I haven't seen it, I'm glad to not be associated with that overhyped crapfest and their dork fans.
I apologize to any dork Star Wars fans that are also fans of this site.
The number one album of the year? 50 Cent's The Massacre.
Number five was Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway.
We're the Kelly Clarkson of pop music, and that's OK. We're OK with that. Don't give us that look. There's nothing wrong with being Kelly Clarkson as opposed to 50 Cent.

In baseball
You'd be the Cleveland Indians (5th best record overall...due to a three way tie for third between the Yanks, RedSox and Angels)thenerdhater - January 3, 2006
And as everybody knows...
The Yankees show up in the most movies, but the Indians show up in the funny ones. Though I've only seen the first Major League...Dex - January 3, 2006

5th place doesn't mean Bochy has to use the 5th best option at certain positions...Marc Normandin @ Gaslamp Ball - January 4, 2006
You know whats great?
Reggie Jackson is roughly twice the size of every baseball actor in that movie. He comes out from the pig pile looking like Godzilla with glasses after crushing plastic buildings just by being there.Marc Normandin @ Gaslamp Ball - January 5, 2006
